Cosmic/Moon
"Cosmic” describes outer space, but the Cosmos is all around us. This gorgeous glaze pallet reminds us that the elements from the stars are the exact same elements that make up objects in our daily lives.

Textures on "Moon Mugs" and Asteroid Cups" are inspired by lunar and planetary surfaces and shapes. Vibrant color contrasts on the circular, carved textures only come through hours of meticulous work. Colors are inspired by the various colors of cosmic phenomena throughout our solar system, including asteroids and moons orbiting other planets. Joel Cherrico blends these ideas with marks from his hands and fingers when forming the pottery, emphasizing the handmade nature of the art. These mugs are not meant to duplicate exact lunar surfaces, but instead to represent how these surfaces feel when they are translated into clay in the form of a handcrafted, pottery cup.
