All plates come with a hanging device, ready for you to hang them on the wall as a decorative piece.
NOTE: all Moon Plates have imperfections, including but not limited to small cracks and jagged textures, rough areas, dry surfaces, pitted clay or glaze, thin and thick clay walls, warping, wobbling forms, and more. They are part of the art:
- NON-FUNCTIONAL: any plate containing 24 karat gold leaf is non-functional, decorative only. The gold surface will never change, unless you touch it. It is extremely fragile and can scratch if you touch it, so please do not touch it. But, if you do accidentally scratch it, it will still match the rustic qualities of your piece, since the gold was also applied in a rustic fashion. With the hanging device that lets your plate hang safely on a wall, your piece should remain nearly identical forever. If you need to remove dust, brush gently with a dry microfiber cloth only. Gold is used on clay cracks, which are left unfilled, sometimes penetrating all the way through the piece. Cracks are not filled with 24 karat gold, as shown in the photos. Instead, I chose to surrounded the cracks with a brush stroke of 24 karat gold, embellishing the flaw. But, I leave the crack visible. The cracks happened naturally in the clay drying and firing process. Cracks will never grow or change, but will remain forever framed in gold.
- HANGING DEVICE: every Moon Plate comes with a hanging device attached, custom fit to each plate. They are removable, but they are not easy to remove.
These pieces are great as single pieces but also look lovely in a display of multiples hung together.
